How to Eliminate Odors on Pet Bedding without Washing
Before treating the pet bedding, you’ll first need to mix OdoBan® concentrate to make a pet odor eliminating spray use-solution. This spray will be perfect for removing odors from your pet bedding’s soft surfaces.
Alternatively, you can use an OdoBan® Ready-to-Use Spray. These sprays are already mixed and ready for use.
To make an OdoBan® pet bedding deodorizer use-solution, you’ll need to mix 1 part OdoBan® concentrate to 3 parts water (1:3 dilution). This dilution is equivalent to 32 ounces of OdoBan® concentrate per gallon of water.
How to Make a Pet Bedding Deodorizer Spray Solution (32-oz. bottle) with OdoBan® Concentrate
- Measure 8 ounces (one cup) of OdoBan® concentrate in a measuring cup, not used for food and drink.
- Carefully pour the measured OdoBan® concentrate into a clean, plastic spray bottle.
- Fill the remainder of the spray bottle with plain tap water.
- Seal the spray bottle tightly.
- Label the spray bottle.
With your OdoBan® solution ready, let’s deodorize the pet bedding.
- Vacuum. Start by carefully vacuuming the dog bed to remove loose hair and dust particles. Check your vacuum cleaner attachments for pieces specially made for hard-to-reach areas and for removing pet fur.
- Treat. Apply a light spray onto fabric surfaces of the bedding evenly, ensuring to spray any areas where odors persist.
- Dry. Allow treated surfaces to completely dry before allowing pets back in the area.
- Repeat. Repeat the process, as necessary, until the odor is completely gone.
How to Wash Pet Bedding to Remove Odors
OdoBan® controls laundry malodors, softens and eliminates static cling without damaging fibers when added to the laundry rinse cycle. Here’s how to remove pet odors from pet bedding and blankets using OdoBan® in the laundry.
- Wash, as normal. Wash the bedding as usual in your washing machine. Use regular laundry detergent.
- Add OdoBan®. During the final rinse cycle, add 8 ounces (or 1 cup) of OdoBan® concentrate to freshen clothing and eliminate lingering odors on fabrics.
- Dry. Dry the bedding immediately after washing, either by air drying or using a dryer.
- Repeat, if necessary. For stronger odors, repeat the process until the smell is completely gone.
If your washing machine has fabric softener compartment (not the bleach compartment), you can add OdoBan® concentrate here before starting the load. If this compartment will not hold 8 ounces, use 4 ounces (or as much as your compartment will hold).
